At iLeap our volunteering programs offer safe, impactful & budget-friendly programs for Gap Year & Continuing Students, Professionals and families to Impact Lives, Build a Career and Have Fun.
After covering the cost of volunteers stay, iLeap uses 20% of program fees to renovate, build & maintain clinics, school and provide clean water for vulnerable communities. Through advocacy & education, we build knowledge & capacity on climate change and gender equality.
Dental Volunteer Program
The Dental Volunteer Program presents an opportunity for dentists, dentistry students, dental hygienists and dental assistants, as well as pre-dental volunteer opportunities to join our Doctors on Wheels Project. It is exciting to be part of medical teams from different countries aiming to provide health services for vulnerable rural communities. If you are passionate about improving rural quality of life then this is your call.
STEM Program
This program is for STEM lovers. Our STEM Program partners professional volunteers with teachers and community programs to lead children and youth through interactive STEM activities in the classroom and after school programs. Virtual outreach opportunities are available!
Environmental Conservation
Ghana’s Forestry Commission regulates the utilization of forest and wildlife resources, conserving and managing resources and coordinating policies related to them. In meeting global volunteering standards for forest and wildlife resource conservation, iLeap collaborates with corporate bodies of excellence to sustain Ghana’s environment. Volunteers get the chance to learn about Ghana’s forest reserves, wildlife and the timber industry. As a volunteer you help with selection of seedlings, bagging of seedlings, nursery of trees, tree planting, maintaining trees, site restoration and other administrative assistance.
Veterinary/ Animal Care Program
This program allows volunteers to contribute to the creation of animal health system and provide quality animal health system to enhance productivity. You will work at a veterinary clinic with laboratory services, control units, epidemiology unit among others. Volunteers also get the chance to work in the zoo (Accra Kumasi), Mole National Park in the Northern Region of Ghana, Monkey Sanctuary at Boabeng Fiema among others. Your contribution can be in the field of researching into species, growth patterns, data gathering among others.
Legal Volunteering Program
The program is committed to supporting young Lawyers build and maintain sustainable careers in the legal aid sector. Legal volunteers gain in-depth understanding of the historical development of the legal system of Ghana. Supervised by senior Lawyers, volunteers work with Law Firms, visit the courts; District Courts, Circuit Courts, High Courts among others to have a Ghanaian court room experience. Volunteers will also have the chance to visit selected Law Faculties in Greater Accra Region and the Ashanti Region. You will also get the chance to visit some selected prisons.
Sports Development Program
iLeap Sports volunteering is the chance to combine your love for sports whilst having fun in Ghana. Sports volunteering is the perfect way to teach your favorite sports to children and pass on your passion to them. By volunteering, you provide an opportunity for children to learn important soft skills, build confidence and work as a team. All you need to do is to tell is where you can make a meaningful contribution. The moment you volunteer, there is a creation of intercultural understanding where rural children and their sports trainer learn from each other. You assist children to keep a healthy lifestyle.
Child Care
Our childcare project enables volunteers to gain experience in early childhood education in cities and rural communities across Ghana. As a volunteer you will be required to help with early education in numeracy and literacy. You will also help with planning meals for children. If you love to sing, tell stories and recite rhymes for children to smile then is your project.
Agriculture Program
iLeap Agriculture program aims to be a sustainable food provider to vulnerable communities. The program is designed to enable volunteers acquire experience in agriculture and animal husbandry. Your skills and knowledge will also assist local farmers provide food and resources for children in disadvantaged communities.
Missionary Program
As a missionary volunteer, the aim is to go into communities and teach about Christ Jesus and the Christian faith. This is made possible through partnerships we have built over the years with accredited churches in communities we serve. We understand that missionary volunteers do have different skill sets and would prefer to undertake other projects such as classroom teaching, infrastructure building, caring for orphans among. Local Government Program
The internship program provide a high level of professional development and hands-on training that helps volunteers/interns to work under the mentorship of senior municipal professionals, develop a broad understanding of Ghanaian local government governance, procurement and develop skills and competencies in administration, finance or land use planning.
Construct & Renovate Program
This is fun. You become a member of iLeap team of builders. You form teams with volunteers from other countries to build and renovate community projects. Volunteers interested in the Social Infrastructure Program are strongly advised to apply to gain building experience while improving the social infrastructure in vulnerable communities. You will be tasked to work alongside locals to build, repair and upgrade clinics, community centers, toilet facilities, schools and bore holes. You will be challenged to take counsel with your team to come out with a sustainable models to sustain the project you have just built or renovated.
Microfinance Program
Broadening financial inclusion in Ghana is important for ensuring inclusive growth and achieving the objectives of the strategic plan of the financial sector. Inclusive financial sectors allow low earning households to manage risks and smooth consumption. Opportunities are provided for very micro and small enterprises to survive and grow. Microfinance bridges geographical dispersion by providing access to savings and payment services to populations in rural and remote regions. As a volunteer, you will help explain the policies of a micro finance with its clients. Oversee loan application forms and advise clients. You will offer financial literacy for rural communities including market women, collecting payments, assisting with interviews and checking on progress of customers and reporting.
Urban Infrastructure Project
Volunteers get to work in a diverse, welcoming, and fun environment, on amazing projects, whilst starting their to become professionally qualified. As a volunteer, you will join our cohort of Engineers, Project Managers, Data specialist, Environmentalist, Health Safety Engineers among others. This program is catered to your specific discipline. You will learn on the job, work on some amazing projects and be mentored by some of our industries leading practitioners.
Creativity Training Program
There appears to be lack of creative pedagogies in Ghanaian schools and this has led to lack of creative graduates at all levels. This outcome has in turn, increased the unemployment rate in the country. In view of the need for divergent and analytical thinking skills in the current global economy, creativity should be taught and fostered in schools. As a volunteer, you will be required to ensure technical skills development of children in visual, literary and performing arts disciplines as well as research and design (depending on your area of knowledge & expertise).
Journalism Program
Journalism in Ghana in requires an unmatched level of creativity and drive. It is a great way to demonstrate to local Tv & radio stations that you have passion for the field, and the tenacity to dive into it, scripting your own career path. Additionally, you show to your team mates that you have an adventurous side. A burning desire and pure heart to make the world a better place for the most vulnerable. You may want to enhance your understanding of the media. As a volunteer, you will be required to do the following:
- Writing news stories and featured articles
- Covering stories on social infrastructure in disadvantaged communities.
- Covering I Leap programs and the local media you will be working with
- Researching stories and conducting field interviews
- Doing stories to highlight challenges on ground.
- Editing work for publication
- Attending conference
Girls Advocate Program
At iLeap, we believe investing in girls education is one of the most transformative development strategies. 129 million girls are out of school globally. Girls face barriers to education caused by poverty, cultural norms and practices, poor infrastructure, violence and fragility. Girls education is about ensuring that girls learn and feel safe while in school and have the opportunity to complete all levels of education, acquiring skills to compete in the labor market.
As a girls advocate volunteer, you join the iLeap Girls Effect Program. You will be required to be part of our team championing our investing in girls education. Attending conferences as a speaker, appearing on TV and radio programs to make sound arguments. From market squares, streets, churches and schools, the voices of the voiceless will be heard through you. It is fun and you will be filled with memories. Remember, when you volunteer, the following changes are realized:

- Increase in child marriage rates
- Rise in child mortality rates
- Rise in maternal mortality rates
